$10 in Amazon and $10 in Restaurant.com Earned

Today poses a problem.  How to I characterize the earnings of Restaurant.com gift cards?  I wrote a few days ago about how awesome a deal buying restaurant.com gift cards with Swag Bucks is.

Today my question is, if $10.00 at Restaurant.com can buy a $20.00 gift certificate at a local restaurant…how do I report this income?  Is it $10.00 earned or is it the value of what I buy with the $10.00 earned?

I’m going to report it as $10.00 because I’m not counting capital gains as earnings on this blog (but maybe I should).
